Thank you for your interest in our services! Here are the services we offer and the general costs and target timeframe for completion.

We offer two types of packages: one for production only, if the client supplies already written text, and one that includes writing and production.

The basic production package we offer for text supplied by the client includes layout/formatting, copyediting, and proofreading (indexing is an additional cost; see below). The costs are as follows:

• 25,000 words > $1000 (4-6 weeks for completion)
• 50,000 words > $2000 (6-8 weeks for completion)
• 75,000 words > $3000 (8-10 weeks for completion)
• 100,000 words > $4000 (10-12 weeks for completion)

If you would like us to write and develop the text for you (based on interviews, genealogical research you’ve supplied, or other material), the costs are as follows:

• 25,000 words > $4000 for writing and production (2-4 months for completion)
• 50,000 words > $7000 for writing and production (4-6 months for completion)
• 75,000 words > $10,500 for writing and production (6-9 months for completion)
• 100,000 words > $14,000 for writing and production (8-12 months for completion)

Basic cover design is included in the package costs, presuming that a family photograph will be used to illustrate the cover. (If you prefer a more elaborate cover design, we can create one for you for an additional fee.)

Additional services and costs:

• Indexing costs are $400 per 25,000 words.
• Interviews can be done remotely or in person. These are billed at a rate of $50 per hour plus expenses if travel is necessary. 
• Transcriptions (of interviews or text) are billed at $50 per hour.
• Images can be included for a cost of $100 per 10 images. Image editing iṡ billed at $50 per hour.
• Family tree charts can be generated and included. If you already have a GEDCOM file that can be used to fill in the information, the cost is $50 per chart. If you don’t have a GEDCOM file, we can create one for you and provide the file on a thumb drive for future use (this is a standard file type that can be uploaded to any genealogy site); in that case the price is $75 per chart. These charts are based on existing templates; custom trees can also be created at a higher price.
• Genealogical research to fill in missing information is billed at a rate of $50 per hour.

We can provide vendor options for printing and binding costs once I have a sense of the length of the book you wish to produce. Depending on type of binding, quality of paper, color or b/w images, number of copies, these costs can range anywhere between a couple hundred dollars for plastic comb binding to thousands of dollars for hardbound books printed on high-quality paper. 

We do credit cards as well as debit cards, bank transfers, PayPal, and Venmo. We generally require a 50% deposit, and we offer a 10% discount for work paid for in advance. Payment terms are detailed in our service agreement; if you’d like to see a sample agreement, just let me know and I’ll send one to you.
